One of the fine dining establishments leading the pack in Hong Kong is Amber Restaurant. It is located at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental. Led by the talented and artistic chef Richard Ekkebus, Amber offers unique French cuisine served in artistic presentations. Also, the interiors are noteworthy as it is done by the Adam Tihany, who combined excellent lighting with the burnt amber hues to give out a classy and luxurious ambiance to the restaurant.
Richard Ekkebus is one of the chefs in Hong Kong who are on top of their games. One of his accolades is being awarded the “Golden Chef’s Hat” in Holland and as the “Young Chef of the Year.” This is due to his innovative and inventive spirit, constantly giving a new twist and flavor to the French cuisine that we know today. The result is a new taste that excites diners and food critics alike in Amber Restaurant.
Amber Restaurant is well known for the Kangaroo Island King Crab, featuring five temperatures and four textures, served as Jell-O, salad, foam, hot bisque, and ice cream. Another featured dish is the Tasmanian Salmon Dorsal Fillet, a smoked salmon with a mix hass avocado and virgin olive oil. Another favorite in Amber Restaurant is the dessert. For example, there’s the Manjara 64% chocolate, which is made of salted caramel and brown butter ice cream served with chocolate sauce. Amber Restaurant is also proud of its two-star rating from the Michelin Guide, making Amber one of the few restaurants in Hong Kong that can offer world-class fine dining in unique and delectable French cuisine.
There is a price to pay for greatness, as usual, and Amber is one of the most expensive dining places in Hong Kong. But if you can pay the price, then be prepared for a wonderful treat of delicious and classy French cuisine.
